Borussia Dortmund recall Jadon Sancho from England U17s

Borussia Dortmund have recalled Jadon Sancho ahead of England U17s match against Japan U17s at the World Cup in India.

A €7m signing from Manchester City, Sancho played in BVB’s UEFA Youth League game against APOEL on Tuesday, scoring in the process.

However, Dortmund’s decision to recall the 17-year-old hasn’t gone down well with England U17s head coach, Steve Cooper.

“It’s a disappointment for him because he very much enjoyed his time in India and relished the chance to play in a World Cup. He loves playing for England and this team in particular so it’s sad to see him go,” said Cooper, via ESPN.

“I can only imagine Dortmund want him back to play in their first team at the weekend and I assume he will be starting for them — because I can’t think of a reason why you would take a player away from a World Cup.”
