1. FC Köln are to miss out on Sporting Gijon and Spain U21 international Jorge Mere, according to Express.de. The central-defender had been a target for the Bundesliga club.
Instead, Mere is expected to undergo a medical at Malaga on Monday. Köln were expected to complete the signing of the Spaniard on a two-year loan with an option to buy in 2019. However, the two clubs were unable to agree on the buy fee, which was expected to be around €14m.
