Yuya Osako signs three year contract extension with Cologne

Yuya Osako has signed a contract extension with Cologne which will see him remain at the club until 2020, a further three years.

The Japan international has appeared in 60 Bundesliga matches for the Billy Goats – scoring six goals – whilst he has finally found his place in the team this season.

“We are playing successful football and I have found my place in the team. Those are the fundamental sporting reasons for my contract extension. FC is a big club in Germany that is also followed in Japan with great interest. My family is also enjoying life here so I am happy to know that we are staying,” said Osako.

“Yuya is an excellent player with a multifaceted skillset. It is a pleasure for us to work with him. With his technique, dynamism, and speed, he is a stimulating element of our offensive game plan. He has proved his value to the team in these early matches of the season,” said head coach Peter Stöger.
