When Bild ran with the story that Tottenham may have interest in procuring the services of Schalke’s Max Meyer for €45m, it may have seemed to good to be true.
And, as we reported earlier with Meyer’s Instagram post, it might well have been. He seemed content in Germany training and there was no news of a transfer on the horizon.
Kicker, however, seemingly have other ideas. They believe that a deal is very much on and, should Tottenham up their bid sufficiently, Schalke would be open to a sale. The
Tottenham’s pursuit of a creative midfielder is no secret, having reportedly been chasing the signature of Isco from Real Madrid and Moussa Sissoko of Newcastle, so spending roughly £38m on Meyer is not out of the question. Moreover, Kicker believe Schalke may sell for a big fee even if there is no replacement lined up for Meyer.
