After coaching Julian Draxler in Schalke 04’s youth academy, Norbert Elgert is arguably the man who shaped the German international into the player he is today.
A move to Wolfsburg, from Schalke, raised suspicions, but now the Germany international is heading to PSG after publicly declaring he wanted to leave Wolfsburg after becoming unhappy at his situation there.
Elgert spoke to DFB.de, defending the World Champion over his move to France.
“That hurts me [the public criticism towards Draxler]. I had contact with Julian a couple of days ago and I can only say that besides his outstanding football skills, he is a flawless character.”
