Mesut Özil set to sign new Arsenal contract

Mesut Özil is set to sign a new long term contract with Arsenal, according to German news outlet SportBild.

The German playmaker has become a fan favourite since joining Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013 for a club record fee.

In addition to the new contract, Özil will also be given his preferred number ten shirt at the club as part of the deal.

Although the terms of the new deal have not yet been disclosed, it is estimated that the German international will extend his contract for another three and will also receive a significant pay rise on his current wages at the club.
