Hertha Berlin coach Pál Dárdai praises combination of mentality and performance in Schalke win

Hertha Berlin manager Pál Dárdai praised his side’s belief and performance after their 2-0 victory over Schalke.

For the whole week we believed that we could win! This is what the players showed on the field,” the 40-year-old said in his post-match press conference.

The Hungarian confirmed that captain Vladimir Darida has picked up an ankle problem, but was not willing to comment further until the injury is examined by the medical team. He did however praise Darida’s replacement, Valentin Stocker.

Stocker trains in an exemplary manner, just like all the other players. There is quality on our bench, which stood out today.”

Hertha’s victory has set up a  midweek top-of-the-table clash with Bayern Munich, with the club from the capital travelling to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday. And Dárdai remains hopeful, if not optimistic.

We want to still be undefeated after the Bayern game, that is clear. Although of course, we will need luck (for that game).”
