Jérôme Boateng turns down Manchester United

Jérôme Boateng has rejected a move to Manchester United, as reported on Tuesday night by Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk.

The Bayern Munich defender personally called Manchester United manager José Mourinho to say he is grateful for their interest, but that he won’t be joining the Premier League club.

It was then reported by Sky Germany‘s Torben Hoffmann that this was purely down to sporting reasons.

Manchester United wanted to sign the 29-year-old on an initial loan deal with an option to purchase, which Bayern Munich rejected. It was then reported in German press that MUFC had only offered €25m – half of Bayern’s €50m valuation.

A move to Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain could still be on the cards with the French champions his preferred destination should he leave Bayern Munich this summer.
