VfB Stuttgart have officially confirmed the capture of Ecuadorian striker Jeremey Arévalo. As reported by Get German Football News on December 22nd, the €7m deal has been sealed for some time. A contractual technicality kept the Bundesliga outfit from unveiling their new addition until today. Arévalo joins Stuttgart from Spain’s Racing Santander and has signed a new VfB contract valid until 2031.
Arevalo was born in Spain, but has ultimately opted to represent Ecuador internationally. Interestingly enough, Arevalo could end up facing Germany in the group phase of the coming summer World Cup if his development continues apace. The once-capped international’s Bundesliga success might earn him a ticket to the tournament.
Stuttgart welcome Arévalo
“[Jeremy has] many of the qualities a striker needs and has proven his abilities in Santander,” Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth noted in a club statement. “At the same time, he is still young and we see a lot of potential in Jeremy that we wish to help him develop.”
