Speaking to Bild, VfB Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has confirmed the signing of Bilal El Khannouss on a permanent basis.
It has previously been reported that the Bundesliga side had an €18m buy option in their loan agreement with Leicester, if certain targets were achieved. On top of the €3.5m loan fee, they paid to bring the Moroccan to Germany in the summer.
On if those have been met, Wohlgemuth said:
“Yes, that’s correct. I can confirm that. All the conditions have now been met. We are delighted that we have secured Bilal’s permanent commitment to VfB Stuttgart.”
Following his permanent signing, El Khannouss will sign a contract at Stuttgart until 2030, and his deal does not contain a release clause either.
Stuttgart’s season so far:
Before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, El Khannouss was one of Sebastian Hoeneß’s best players, scoring eight and assisting six so far. However, since his return, he has struggled to reach the same form.
While the likes of teammates Deniz Undav and Jamie Leweling have hit their stride.
