Flourishing Serge Gnabry nearing new 2-year Bayern Munich contract

After months of negotiations, it would appear that Serge Gnabry is close to extending his contract at Bayern Munich beyond the summer with an agreement expected to be announced as early as next week.

That’s according to Sky Germany, who report that the 30-year-old is expected to sign his new contract no later than next week.

As reported in December, the new agreement will last for two years until 2028, while a new financial package is also to be agreed upon, likely meaning a reduced salary.

Speaking to Bild, board-member-for-sport Max Eberl said that he can, “see light at the end of the tunnel,” – suggesting that an agreement is imminent.

Serge Gnabry’s season so far

The Stuttgart-native is enjoying an excellent campaign under Vincent Kompany, returning six goals and providing five assists in 14 Bundesliga appearances this term.

The former Arsenal man has also netted in the UEFA Champions League, recording a further assist in his five European outings.

But with the return of Jamal Musiala, form of Lennart Karl and Michael Olise, Gnabry will have his work cut out to retain his place in the Bayern squad.
