Sport Bild reports that if Edin Dzeko is open to staying at the club, Schalke will offer the Bosnian a one-year extension.
After his shock return to Germany in the winter, the 39-year-old signed a six-month contract at the Veltins Arena, and despite turning 40 this month, he has been an immediate hit.
In six 2.Bundesliga games, Dzeko has four goals and three assists as Schalke currently sit first in the second division, with only a small gap between them and the chasing pack just outside the promotion places.
Schalke’s plan for Dzeko:
If the Bosnian is open to remaining in Gelsenkirchen beyond this summer, then die Königsblau will offer him a one-year deal. If all goes well, this one year could be spent in the Bundesliga.
The striker has immediately been accepted by the fans due to his performances, while there is also a large Bosnian contingent, including international teammate Nikola Katic and head coach Miron Muslic, who is Austrian-Bosnian.
