A report emerging yesterday concerning former Bayern Munich phenom Paul Wanner’s international allegiance has proven false. The 20-year-old PSV professional has denied the report personally in a Champions League press conference ahead of a meeting with his former club.
Wanner remains a nine-times-capped Germany U21 international who has not represented Austria at any level yet. ÖFB head coach Ralf Rangnick has nevertheless been known to have been recruiting Wanner for several years now.
Paul Wanner denies he’s made a decision
“That’s not true,” Wanner remarked at the press conference. “I haven’t made a decision yet Until then, I will continue to do my best. I’m just focusing on PSV.“
Wanner still dreams of the World Cup
“I dream of playing in a World Cup,” Wanner said in a recent interview with Sport Bild. “But, until then, I want and need to perform week after week.”
Wanner pleased with decision to join PSV
“I’m always ready for more playing time,” Wanner – as quoted by Kicker – noted in a recent Dutch domestic interview. “But the coach decides when I play and when I don’t.”
