According to a report from Kicker, Panathinaikos have joined AEK Athens in the race to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Dennis Geiger (27). The German midfielder, who has 18 months remaining on his contract, is yet to feature in Christian Ilzer’s matchday squad for the Sinsheim club this season despite not being injured.
Geiger is certainly generating interest. Per Kicker, AEK and Ajax had both shown an interest in signing the central-midfielder, with Panathinaikos now making enquiries about signing Geiger, who has made 147 appearances across all competitions since making his debut for the Sinsheim club in 2017.
Ilzer’s Hoffenheim currently find themselves in an excellent position in the Bundesliga as we approach the halfway stage. Sixth on 27 points, TSG are only five points behind third-placed Stuttgart, with two games in hand.
