Germany’s Nadiem Amiri hires famous agent Pini Zahavi with aim of departing Mainz 05

Sky reports that Mainz talisman Nadiem Amiri’s recent switch of agents is geared towards him departing his current Bundesliga club this summer. The nine-times-capped German international – formerly represented by his family – has now signed on with famous footballing agent Pini Zahavi; the famous handler of Bundesliga stars such as Robert Lewandowski and Jonathan Tah.

Nadiem Amiri’s revived his career at Mainz

Amiri – treated as a pariah at Bayer Leverkusen after his family nixed a transfer to Leeds in the autumn of 2023 – moved to Mainz in the January 2024 transfer window for just €1m. The Ludwigshafen-native immediately became the most important player for Bo Henriksen’s Rheinhessen, helping the Palatinate club stave off relegation with one goal and five assists in 15 league appearances.

Last season, Amiri enthusiastically led Mainz back to Europe with seven goals and seven assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances. He also returned to the German national team after a five year absence last spring. This year – prior to his recent injury – Amiri has stepped up his game even more, leading the squad with 10 Bundesliga goals. Despite interest from other clubs, Mainz were adamant about not selling their star player this summer.

Has Amiri’s time at Mainz run its course?

Most likely. At the age of 29, Amiri prepares tomato perhaps the last major decision of his professional career. His steady performance upswing has enabled Amiri to raise his estimated market value from €4m at the time of his January 2024 transfer back up to €20m last summer. Amiri’s current estimated value has dipped a bit amid his team’s struggles, falling back down to €17m in the December Transfermarkt update.

Amiri’s current contract with Mainz runs until 2028, but the club presumably won’t wish to miss out on the opportunity to cash in on him early this summer. Mainz’s estimated autumn 2025 transfer surplus of approximately €10m is down a tad following the €4m winter signing of Augsburg striker Phillip Tietz. Urs Fischer’s Pfälzer – still 12 points from officially safety – are also not out of the 2025/26 Bundesliga relegation fight yet.
