Hoffenheim set to offload exiled striker Mërgim Berisha to 1. FC Kaiserslautern absent transfer fee

Florian Plettenberg reports that exiled Hoffenheim attacker Mërgim Berisha will be moving to 2. Bundesliga outfit Kaiserslautern on transfer deadline day. The Pfälzer Red Devils will acquire the former German international without paying Hoffenheim a transfer fee. Instead, Hoffenheim have secured a re-sale clause in the event that Berisha can revive his career.

Hoffenheim have been trying to offload Berisha for some time

Berisha has mostly existed as a thorn in the side of TSG management for well over a year. The 27-year-old reportedly nixed a deal to Hertha based on the fact that he didn’t wish to take a pay cut. Hoffenheim demoted Berisha to the reserves this season and he hasn’t even been featuring there.

Kaiserlautern desperately need a striker

At long last, it appears desperate from all parties involved will lead to a deal finally getting done. Lautern have been hit hard by an injury to leading goal-scorer Ivan Pertain this weekend. Berisha’s current Bundesliga outfit also has no problems offloading their unused striker for free.
