Bild reports that a final meeting to decide on the future of Borussia Dortmund centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck will be held this month.
In mid-March, before the international break, Schlotterbeck is expected to meet with the majority of Dortmund’s management to make the decision on his future.
Does he extend his contract at the club beyond 2027, or leave in the summer?
Dortmund’s Schlotterbeck plan:
Previous reports suggest that Dortmund will make the defender one of their highest-paid players and will also include a release clause in his contract, all to tempt him to stay at the Westfalenstadion.
If the 26-year-old does not extend his contract, die Schwarzgelben have decided he will be sold. Real Madrid are said to be one of the only teams left in the running for Schlotterbeck; however, no sort of offer has been presented to the defender’s representatives.
This means that Dortmund’s hopes of the defender staying at the club are high, as he does not have any other alternatives at the moment.
