Eintracht Frankfurt’s injury crisis worsens with Rasmus Kristensen sidelined

Bild report that Eintracht Frankfurt could be without Rasmus Kristensen for the remainder of the season after the Danish defender suffered an ankle injury during their 3-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach at the weekend, which requires surgery.

It’s another injury blow for Albert Riera, who remains unbeaten in his first two games in charge. Last week, the Eagles confirmed that Belgian defender Arthur Theate had suffered a meniscus tear, meaning his will be sidelined for at least a month.

Against Gladbach, Arnaud Kalimuendo had to be replaced after the Frenchman went off holding his shoulder, a huge blow for Eintracht’s attack with Jonathan Burkardt and fellow January signing Younes Ebnoutalib already sidelined.

Elsewhere, Frankfurt confirmed that Ansgar Knauff underwent a surgical procedure in the abdominal area and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Ahead of their trip to Bayern Munich on Saturday, that leaves Riera with several positions to fill as they look to narrow the gap to the European places.
