According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Borussia Dortmund are set to miss out on Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, who is set to join Marseille.
There’s already a verbal agreement between the two clubs while talks with Feyenoord to sign the Dutchman this month are in the ‘final stages’. Timber’s contract expires at the end of the season, but the player’s decision to reject contract offers, while being stripped of the captaincy, has only accelerated the player’s departure from De Kuip.
Dortmund first showed interest in signing Timber as early as November, but it appears that Marseille have now won that race.
Where BVB go from here remains to be seen. They’ve already lost Pascal Groß to Brighton this month, but they’re closer to reaching an agreement to extend the contract of Emre Can, while club bosses are looking to ward off Felix Nmecha’s suitors with a new deal beyond 2028.
