Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund are close to completing the signing of left-back Kaua Prates from Brazilian side Cruzeiro.
Dortmund have managed to break through with negotiations with the Brazilian side over a fee for the 17-year-old. Die Schwarzgelben will pay €12m, while they still need to finalise an agreement with the player.
With Prates, there is already an agreement in principle with a contract until 2031, and the deal will be valid once he moves to Germany in the summer, as he is not allowed to move until he turns 18.
Last season, the left-back featured 20 times for the Belo Horizonte-based side.
How will Prates fit at Dortmund?
The 17-year-old can play as both a left-back and centre-back, meaning he would be a prime candidate to be the long-term replacement for Ramy Bensebaini, who also plays those positions. Since the 30-year-old moved to the Signal Iduna Park from Borussia Mönchengladbach, he has not been the most consistent and has more or less lost his position at left-back to Daniel Svensson.
