Official | Borussia Mönchengladbach conclude €1m sale of Charles Herrmann to Cercle Brugge

Borussia Mönchengladbach have finalized the reported on sale of midfielder Charles Herrmann to Cercle Brugge. Kickerreports that the Bundesliga outfit has indeed netted €1m on the 20-year-old. The German footballing magazine also claims that certain performance-related bonuses could pad the BMG coffers further.

Herrmann benefits from Eugen Polanksi’s endorsement 

To date, Herrmann has still only made one Bundesliga appearance that lasted all of six minutes. The fact that Herrmann took a corner and registered an assist on a dramatic late equalizer in Gladbach head coach Eurgen Polanski’s debut nevertheless left him a well-known figure in the German footballing media. Though there were no more appearances, more jawboning from Polanski certainly raised Herrmann’s profile. 

Gladbach still have players to move

Rouven Schröder and the BMG administrative team are known to wish to offload several more players before the transfer window closes tomorrow. The rumor mills have nevertheless mostly run dry when it comes to professionals such as Marvin Friedrich, Luca Netz, and Grant Leon-Ranos. Herrmann may be the final Gladbach departure.

Danish midfielder Oscar Fraulo (€400,000 to Derby County) has thus far been the only other player Gladbach have earned money for this January. Loan-outs Tomas Cvancara (Celtic) and Jonas Omlin (Bayer Leverkusen) did not generate any reported loan fees. 

Statement on Herrmann’s departure 

Charles is a talented young man who wanted more playing time with the pros,” Schröder noted in a Gladbach press release. “We haven’t been able to offer him that so far, and due to the competitive situation, we can’t offer him that in the medium term either. The move to Bruges is thus a good solution for all sides. We wish Charles all the best in the future.
