Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer out of DFB Cup final

Bayern Munich have received a huge blow to their DFB Pokal chances after Manuel Neuer was ruled out of Saturday’s final against VfB Stuttgart.

Sky Germany report that because of a calf injury, Neuer is sidelined meaning that Jonas Urbig will start in goal.

The 40-year-old was substituted in Bayern’s 5-1 final day win over Cologne after complaining of a ‘slight twinge’ in his calf and didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks when it came to his cup final chances.

However, despite Sky’s report ruling Neuer out of the final, they state that his recovery is progressing well.

Neuer was called up to Julian Nagelsmann 26-man Germany squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after coming out of retirement.
