Union Berlin close to finalizing purchase of Sporting’s Jeremiah St. Juste

Kicker reports that Union Berlin’s negotiations with Sporting CP over a Jeremiah St. Juste deal are at an “advanced stage“. Little stands in the way of the Dutch centre-back making a return to the Bundesliga. Kicker claims that Union have tendered a €3m offer, including bonuses, that is likely to be accepted by the Portuguese club.

The German magazine also notes that St. Juste – having already spent three seasons playing at Mainz – is keen to come back to German football. Though the now 28-year-old does have other suitors (notably CA Osasuna), St. Juste is prepared to give die Eisernen preference. Union and St. Juste are reported to have agreed to terms on a contract.

The German capital city’s Köpenick club have thus found their desired replacement for the soon-to-depart Diogo Leite. It remains unclear where Leite is headed at this point as the Portuguese centre-back is being courted by no fewer than four clubs in three different countries. The 26-year-old appears headed out of Köpenick in any case.
