Talks between 1. FC Köln and Ajax for the transfer of Ahmetcan Kaplan (22) are proving difficult, according to Sky Germany. As such, the Bundesliga club are withdrawing from their pursuit of the Turkish central-defender after failing to reach an agreement with the Dutch side.
This comes after Köln reached an agreement with Kaplan, but negotiations with Ajax have proved difficult with the Eredivisie club holding out for €6m, a fee in which the Billy Goats don’t wish to match, with the newly promoted Bundesliga club wanting to pay less than €5m.
Because of the breakdown in negotiations, FC Köln could now turn their attention back towards Calvin Brackelmann (25). They’ve shown previous interest in signing the left-footed German central defender. He’s also a player that Lukas Kwasniok coached during their time together at Paderborn.
1. FC Köln don’t plan on stopping there either. They hope to add another left-back to their squad before the deadline to provide competition for Leart Pacarada, while they could also add another striker to their squad in addition to the recently signed Ragnar Ache.
