Fabrizio Romano reports that VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart have quickly wrapped up Tiago Tomas’ transfer. The 23-year-old is already on his way south to Stuttgart to complete his medical and should be unveiled today. Given Tomas’ history with the Swabian Bundesliga outfit, it was widely anticipated that the deal would be concluded rapidly.
Per Romano, Tomas will re-join Stuttgart on a €13m transfer with €2m in bonuses tacked on. Tomas’ new Stuttgart deal will run until 2029. Wolfsburg have turned a handsome profit on the player they paid €8.8m to acquire from Sporting CP two years ago. Stuttgart receive a figure who played an important role for them in both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 relegation races.
Tomas no longer enjoyed favorable playing prospects in Wolfsburg after a poor training camp. Enzo Millot’s recently confirmed Stuttgart departure leaves the 2023/24 Bundesliga runners-up and 2024/25 DFB Pokal winners in need of a versatile attacker who can serve on both wings. As such, Tomas should be integrated in immediately.
