VfB Stuttgart set to complete the signing of Jeremy Arévalo from Racing Santander for €7m

Bild reports that VfB Stuttgart are close to completing the signing of Racing Santander striker Jeremy Arévalo.

Stuttgart faced competition from Roma and Strasbourg for the Ecuadorian, but the Bundesliga side has won the race for the 20-year-old as they continued their search for a striker following the departure of Nick Woltemade in the summer

Arevalo will cost Stuttgart €7m due to a release clause in his contract in Northern Spain. This season, the striker has seven goals in 17 games with Santander currently sitting top of LaLiga2 thanks to the contributions of Arevalo and his strike partner Asier Villalibre, who tops the charts with 10 goals.

VfB were also interested in Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Garcia, but a move seemed financially difficult.

Stuttgart’s striker depth:

The arrival of Arevalo now means that Sebastian Hoeneß’s side is well stocked in its striker department. The 20-year-old will join Ermedin Demirovic, who is returning from a broken foot, as well as Deniz Undav, who has since returned from his own injury and has shown form close to his first season in the Bundesliga in 2023/24.
