The agent representing VfB Stuttgart attacker “Silas” Katompa Mvumpa had strong words to convey when it came to recent transfer rumors surrounding his client. Silas’ representative Memet Eser personally nixed the notion of Silas moving to Turkey. The German agent left no room for doubt. The player will be remaining in the Bundesliga. Period.
“We’re staying!” Eser told Sport Bild. “Silas will be giving his best in training in the hopes of gaining recognition.”
It remains to be seen what Eser’s words shall count for. Silas, in point of fact, still isn’t participating in Stuttgart training. The Congo DR international continues to rehab his ankle away from the team’s training camp after suffering another setback.
It has been rumored that Stuttgart are considering terminating the attacker’s contract as part of the final squad cuts ahead of the season. Sport Bild has reported on Silas’ firm commitment to attempting to rebuild his status in Stuttgart before. One obviously cannot reassess this if the player remains absent.
“He will have to make sure he gets fit quickly,” VfB head coach Sebastian Hoeneß – quoted by transfermarkt.de – recently said of the 26-year-old. “He is not in a position to do anything on the pitch. He has to get fit, then we’ll see what’s best. When he’s healthy, we’ll sit down together.”
