The Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports that VfB Stuttgart prospect Anrie Chase will be transferring to RB Salzburg after all. A deal between the German and Austrian Bundesliga outfits earlier this summer was reported to have collapsed due to a failed medical. It remains unclear as to what has changed at this point.
Stuttgart are set to receive a €2m base-transfer-fee for the Japanese youth international. Chase burst onto the scene at Stuttgart early last season, making quite a name for himself via quality starts under Sebastian Hoeneß through the first nine 2024/25 Bundesliga matchdays.
Two poor starts on matchdays 12 and 13, along with a shaky relief appearance on matchday 15, would nevertheless see him fade out of the squad. Chase would not make a league appearance for the first time in the league in the 2025 calendar year. A muscular injury incurred in March also didn’t help.
The central defender/fullback still finished the season with 20 first team VfB appearances in the league, cup, and Champions League. Chase also appeared eight times for the Stuttgart reserves in the 3. Liga, garnering two assists for VfB II.
The extra cash generated may assist Stuttgart in their pursuit of PAOK attacking midfielder Giannis Konstantelias; a deal reported to be held up over problems associated with the transfer fee.
