After starting both games in the Bundesliga this season, Robin Zentner (30) is a doubt for Mainz’ Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig on Saturday afternoon.
The 30-year-old has been one of the best performing goalkeepers in Germany’s top flight over the last 18 months, with Zentner’s displays helping Mainz return to European football this season. However, he could now miss the club’s Bundesliga game against Leipzig.
Zentner wasn’t present at team training on Wednesday because of a back problem with Lasse Rieß (24) and Daniel Batz (34) the only goalkeepers on the training pitch. Instead, M05 press officer Tobias Sparwasser stated that Mainz’ No. 1 was completing “individual training.”
Bild report that Zentner will again train indoors on Thursday while Bo Henriksen and his coaching staff will likely make a decision on who will start in goal by Friday at the earliest.

Elsewhere, Paul Nebel is suspended while Nadiem Amiri returned to training after being with the German national team, although Jae-sung Lee will miss Saturday’s game.
