RB Leipzig announce the departure of André Silva

RB Leipzig have announced the departure of forward Andre Silva.

Having spent last season partially on loan at Werder Bremen and Real Sociedad, the Portuguese national now has the chance to revive his career at La Liga side FC Elche.

The 29-year-old striker moves to Spain for a transfer fee of just €2.5m – a package much less than the €23m deal that he originally joined the Saxons for over four years ago from Eintracht Frankfurt.

In total, Silva made 110 appearances for Leipzig, scoring on 47 occasions. During this time, he also helped Leipzig win two DFB Pokal titles in 2022 and 2023.

With the announce of the move, RBL managing director for sport, Marcel Schäfer, said:

“André always conducted himself professionally and put the team first during his time at RB Leipzig. Even in a challenging period for him personally, he handled his role with great character and a model attitude. We thank him for his commitment and wish him every success and all the best in La Liga with Elche.”
