PLAYER RATINGS | Bayern Munich 2-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Thomas Müller’s final game at the Allianz Arena and the day that Bayern Munich will be awarded the Bundesliga title, as they face Borussia Mönchengladbach

With it being a party, it felt like one. A really bad one. The best chance of the half was Stefan Lainer’s attempted cross, which Manuel Neuer had to parry over the bar. Bayern had most of the ball, but were never able to truly trouble Jonas Omlin until some Michael Olise magic caught Gladbach off guard, only for the shot to be diverted in by Harry Kane to make it 1-0 to Bayern.

The second half was played at half speed by Bayern, and this allowed Gladbach to have their fair share of chances to get back into the game, but efforts from Kevin Stöger and Tomas Cvancara were saved by Neuer once again. What was obvious,s though, was that Bayern were trying to allow Müller to score on his final game, but the chance just didn’t arrive for the departing legend.

Müller would be subbed off in the 83rd minute to a guard of honour and his name repeatedly chanted by Bayern fans as he walked off the pitch for the final time.

Right at the death of the game, Olise would get his goal after a nice thread-the-needle pass from Sané to make it 2-0. From a Bayern perspective, there is nothing to take away from this game; this was a party game, and it showed in their performance.

Gladbach, on the other hand,d put in a good defence performance against Bayern and should be happy with this, especially after the poor defending in recent weeks and the eight goals conceded in the past two games.

Legend, enough said.

Michael Olise also deserves his plaudits due to his performance today. He should of had two goals if it were not for Kane, but away from that he put on a show this afternoon as Bayern lift the Bundesliga title.
