Patrick Berger and a host of other reliable German footballing media sources report that Paris FC are attempting to hijack Heidenheim attacker Leo Scienza’s move to Southampton. The Bundesliga professional must himself now decide whether he wishes to move to England’s south coast or join the newly promoted Ligue 1 outfit. There’s no word on how much Les Parisiens are offering at this point.
The French capital city outfit has already recruited Eintracht Frankfurt keeper Kevin Trapp to the “city of light” this summer. Trapp joined Paris in spite of the fact that he will only serve as a backup keeper. The French club has spent over €50m on new players ahead of the coming top flight campaign. It stands to reason that they are at least matching Southampton’s offer.
Scienza’s strong Heidenheim training camp placed him on the radar of several clubs outside of Germany. Thus far this year, the 26-year-old has already scored three goals (two in the cup and one in the league) in three appearances across all competitions. The Brazilian currently maintains an estimated €3m market value. Southampton are reported to have offered €8m for his services.
