Official | Bayern Munich sign teenage talents Lennart Karl and Wisdom Mike to professional contracts

Bayern Munich’s reported on extension with 17-year-old attacking prospect Lennart Karl has been officially confirmed. The Bundesliga record champions have also announced a new deal for 16-year-old winger Wisdom Mike. Both teenage talents have featured for Bayern in this summer’s pre-season friendlies and already represented Germany at U17 level.

In reporting on the deals, Kicker reiterates its previous claim that Karl has been promised minutes with the Bayern senior squad this season. The fact that Karl again logged minutes and scored a goal in Bayern’s recent friendly against Tottenham strongly suggests that head coach Vincent Kompany will use him this season.

In promoting two prospects directly from the Bayern campus to the first team, the German giants seek to reinvigorate their reputation for giving prospects a chance after what has been a difficult summer. FCB board-member-for-sport Max Eberl recently found himself on the defensive when it came to this topic following the departure of Adam Aznou.

We want to continuously bring Lennart Karl and Wisdom Mike closer to the professional ranks,” Eberl noted in a statement accompanying the signings on Bayern’s website. “We want to continue to forge a path for our prospects from the FC Bayern campus. We want to see more home-grown players in our first team alongside Jamal Musiala, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Josip Stanisic.
