Official | Bayern Munich complete €7.5m purchase of 15,000-seat Unterhaching stadium, will use ground for women’s team

FC Bayern Munich have officially completed the purchase of the 15,000-seat-arena in Unterhaching. The current home of German fourth-tier side SpVgg Unterhaching will play host to the Bayern women’s home matches in the future. Kicker reports that the Bundesliga record champions are also toying with the notion of moving the Bayern reserves to the Unterhaching ground. FCB II presently play their games at 1860 Munich’s Grünwalder Stadion.

The Bayern women have also played matches at the Grünwalder Stadion in addition to the Allianz Arena. A crowd of nearly 58,000 spectators came to watch the women host Bayer Leverkusen in their 2025/26 Bundesliga debut at the Allianz. Like the Haching ground, 1860’s historic arena can also play host to around 15,000 guests. Bayern plan to make some renovations to the venue, which they have already paid approximately €7.5m for.

The acquisition of the Unterhaching sports park is another milestone in the overall development of our FC Bayern women’s team,” Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen noted in a statement on the FCB website. “The new sporting home of our women’s team will meet UEFA requirements and also satisfy spectator demand in the future.

We thank Bayern for finding a solution that was beneficial to all parties and marks another milestone in our partnership,” SpVgg President Manfred Schwabl noted in his own statement. “Our sporting home will be rendered fit for the future via infrastructure measures that meet the ever-growing demands of professional football.
