Official | Bayer Leverkusen sign Ibrahim Maza for €12m

Bayer Leverkusen have announced the signing of Ibrahim Maza (19) from Hertha Berlin. Die Werkself activated the player’s reported €12m release clause and have tied the Algeria international down to a contract until 2030.

“Ibrahim Maza is currently one of the most interesting young attacking players,” said B04 sporting director Simon Rolfes, via a press release. “Ibrahim suits us and our style of football. He has outstanding technical skills, is a strong dribbler and is assertive, and he has an eye for his teammates, which he uses brilliantly.”

Maza, who completed his medical in Leverkusen on Sunday, has played 30 games in the 2. Bundesliga for Hertha Berlin this season, registering 10 goal contributions (five goals, five assists).

The Algerian playmaker can operate in the half-spaces behind the striker, meaning that Maza can play alongside Florian Wirtz, or in the event that he leaves the BayArena in the summer, replace the Germany international.

“I want to prove myself on the big stage at a top European club,” said Maza. “I’m really looking forward to Bayer 04, to the special close-knit atmosphere, and to a team that has impressed me greatly in recent years. Here in Leverkusen, I can continue to develop and win titles – that’s what drives me.”
