Official | Bayer Leverkusen sign Axel Tape from PSG

Bayer Leverkusen have today announced the signing of Axel Tape (17) from Paris Saint-Germain on a long-term contract. The French youth international joins the Bundesliga side on a free transfer after his contract at PSG expired.

“Axel Tape is a versatile defensive player, a good footballer with pace, athleticism and strong game intelligence,” said Bayer sporting director Simon Rolfes. “We see great potential in Axel and signing him on a free transfer is an important building block in our future-oriented squad planning.”

Tape started in every UEFA Youth League game for PSG last season and has been a regular member of Luis Enrique’s matchday squad since November before making his first team debut in February – the French defender was also called upon in the closing stages of the season, playing against Strasbourg and Montpellier.

The 17-year-old was also a part of the squad that won the French U19 Championship.
