Mainz and Eintracht Frankfurt are expected to ‘meet in the middle’ for Jonathan Burkardt

As previously reported by Get German Football News, Eintracht Frankfurt are continuing to work on a deal that would see FSV Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt move to the Deutsche Bank Park this summer.

However, according to Bild, while both Mainz and Die Adler are expecting a deal to ultimately go through, when this will happen is still unknown.

As stated in the report, the 05ers have expressed their desire to receive €30 million for the 24-year-old, who has made his intention to move to Frankfurt clear.

Nevertheless, Frankfurt’s sporting director, Markus Krösche, does not wish to meet the demands made by Mainz and has instead planned to make an offer of around €20 million.

Despite the deal heading towards what appears to be a dead end, all three parties (Mainz, Frankfurt, and Burkardt) want the transfer to be completed as quickly as possible.

Therefore, the report suggests that both clubs will ultimately look to meet in the middle and agree on a fee within the region of €26 million.

Should the deal be completed, then Die Adler would be looking at an attacking duo of Burkardt and Hugo Ekitike, who, combined, registered 32 goals in the league last season – a frightening prospect for the rest of the Bundesliga.
