Kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen’s Claudio Echeverri could have his loan terminated by parent club Manchester City.
Since moving to the BayArena on loan in the summer, he has only featured nine times for die Werkself, with only three of those being starts.
All three parties are reportedly unhappy with the current situation, particularly as the 19-year-old has failed to fulfil his promise.
Now, the Premier League side is considering the termination of Echeverri’s loan in the winter. Within the loan agreement between the two clubs, there is an option to recall if he fails to achieve a certain amount of playing time, which looks likely.
Leverkusen’s alternatives in the number 10 position:
If the Argentine’s loan is terminated, Leverkusen are unlikely to suffer from Echeverri’s departure. Out of the players who can play behind the striker, Ernest Poku has started the season well, Jonas Hofmann has experienced a revival, Malik Tillman is still finding his feet, and Ibrahim Maza can also play in the number 10, but has been used further back in recent games.
