Jamie Gittens’ move to Chelsea could be resolved imminently

The Athletic reports that Jamie Gittens’ move from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea could be resolved imminently.

Despite both clubs competing at the Club World Cup, Dortmund and Chelsea have been in talks about the 20-year-old’s future. There is hope that a move could be completed soon, despite Bayern Munich showing interest in the Englishman as they search for a left-winger.

Gittens has already reached an agreement with Chelsea over a contract that would be valid until 2032. If a deal is agreed soon, Gittens could be registered for the knockout stages of the Club World Cup, if Chelsea qualify.

Just before the start of the tournament, Chelsea had three offers rejected by Dortmund for Gittens. The most recent offer was worth €55m, and the German side wanted closer to €65m.

Since the appointment of Niko Kovac as head coach earlier this year, Gittens has dropped out of the Dortmund starting 11 as he did not fit into the Croatian’s plans.
