Bild reports Borussia Mönchengladbach are interested in making the loan of midfielder Yannik Engelhardt permanent.
The 26-year-old moved to Borussia Park in the summer on a loan from Serie A side Como and has already made himself a key player in the middle of the park.
Now, Gladbach are trying to keep Engelhardt permanently, with soon-to-be permanent head coach Eugen Polanski pushing for his signature.
There is no buy option in Engelhardt’s loan agreement, but Como will be open to negotiations from around €4.5m, as his contract in Northern Italy is valid until 2027.
Haris Tabakovic’s future at Gladbach
Engelhardt is not the only loan player to make an impact this summer. Striker Haris Tabakovic has become the centre of Gladbach’s attack in the absence of Tim Kleindienst.
Tabakovic has six goals and two assists in nine games, and has already bested his only season with parent club Hoffenheim.
The Bosnian is happy at the club and is interested in extending his stay in the Niederrhein upon the expiry of his loan in the summer, according to Bild:
“I feel very, very comfortable here at the club and in the town in Gladbach. But these are all decisions that will have to be made in the future later on.”
