Erik ten Hag fuels Anthony transfer speculation: “Like a son to me.”

New Bayer Leverkusen head coach Erik ten Hag addressed rumors linking Manchester United winger Anthony with a move to the Bundesliga on Friday. Some loose links between Leverkusen and the 25-year-old. United recently loaned the 16-times-capped Brazilian international out to Real Betis last year.

I signed him twice, first for Ajax and later for Manchester United,” ten Hag said of Anthony. “He was always like a son to me, he still is a son to me. He is an incredibly good player with great qualities.

Anthony remains under contract with the English Red Devils until 2027, meaning that another loan could be possible this year. United may nevertheless wish to keep the attacker after he re-discovered his form during his recent La Liga loan stint.

Leverkusen remain on the hunt for attacking assistance on the flanks, especially after losing out to RB Leipzig in the pursuit of Belgian winger Johan Bakayoko. There is some good news for Germany’s red company team after one player who hinted he might leave also issued statements on Friday.

French-Moroccan winger Amine Adli was also present during a question-and-answer session with journalists. It appears as if die Werkself can at least rely upon one of their wingers remaining for now.

There’s no reason to talk about a transfer,” Adli noted on Friday. “First, I want to finish training camp and play in Friday’s game against Flamengo’s U20 team. I hope I’ll have a season without injuries. My body is fine, I’m very confident.“
