Eintracht Frankfurt’s Can Uzun sets new club record and prepares for breakout Bundesliga campaign

Young Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Can Uzun unquestionably proved the man-of-the-match in his Bundesliga team’s opening day 4-1 thrashing of Werder Bremen. The 19-year-old also set a new club record. With one goal and two assists, Uzun became the youngest Eintracht player ever to pick up three scorer points in an SGE match. The teenage talent – who also picked up an assist in the Pokal – is heating up.

Uzun just completed a fabulous training camp and is one crucial reason why some are tipping Eintracht for a second place Bundesliga finish this season. Uzun’s massive potential ahead of his second campaign in the German top flight remains undeniable. The rise of the German Turkish attacker influenced USMNT international Paxten Aaronson’s decision to request a transfer out of Frankfurt.

Uzun found himself hyped up when speaking to Sky Germany after the full-time whistle. Frankfurt’s new starting No. 10 has set up both of his wingers in his two competitive appearances thus far this year, setting up new summer addition Ritsu Doan’s first SGE goal in the Pokal and twice helping his young colleague Jean-Matteo Bahoya on Saturday.

I’ve trained really hard and want to bring that to the pitch,” Uzun told Sky. “It was a very nice start to the season and we want to keep it up. I want to listen to my coach and continue performing like this, getting better with every game.

I’m actually not the kind of player who strikes that cleanly,” Can said of his own 22nd-minute tally that opened up the scoring on the day. “but somehow it was in a good spot and I struck it well.
