Bild reports that the situation surrounding the contract of Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck is not looking good for the club.
Schlotterbeck has previously rejected a contract offer from the club to extend his deal beyond 2027, and the situation is not looking good for Dortmund’s chances of keeping their star defender.
The 25-year-old is said to be unhappy with the current situation at the club with regard to the current style of play under head coach Niko Kovac. After Dortmund’s 1-1 draw with Hamburg at the weekend, the defender was critical of the style, while behind closed doors, this is also the case.
However, the current situation at the Westfalenstadion also means the chance of Schlotterbeck winning major trophies at not just a national level, but also an international one, is not high at the moment.
Schlotterbeck’s alternatives to Dortmund:
The 25-year-old is one of the best young defenders in the world and will have his suitors if he decides to leave BVB.
If Dayot Upamecano decides to leave Bayern Munich, then the Bundesliga leaders will be in the race for Schlotterbeck. While Liverpool have previously been linked to the German international.
