Bayern Munich are at risk of losing star defender Dayot Upamecano with Chelsea lurking.
Bild’s ‘Bayern Insider’ podcast reports that Chelsea have entered the race to sign the Frenchman, who is currently demanding a €20m signing fee to extend his contract beyond 2026, a figure that Germany’s record champions don’t wish to pay although there is still optimism in the Bayern camp that both parties can find an agreement.
As such, Chelsea have joined Real Madrid and Liverpool in monitoring Upamecano while Kim Min-jae is also expected to leave the club this summer, which leaves Bayern in a difficult position defensively.
Bayern Munich search the market for replacements
Bild report that Bayern Munich are interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guéhi as a replacement, with the Englishman’s contract expiring in 2026.
Bayern have also shown interest in signing Borussia Dortmund and Germany international defender Nico Schlotterbeck, who has since responded to the reports. “I can’t say anything about that,” said the 27-year-old. Liverpool are also monitoring the Dortmund player.
