Bild reports that a contract extension for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt is no longer off the table.
Brandt’s contract at the Westfalenstadion expires in the summer, and it has been suggested that the 29-year-old would leave as Dortmund wants to get rid of his large salary.
However, now he is playing for an extension. If Brandt’s form improves, then he could very well be offered a new deal at Dortmund as head coach Niko Kovac is a big fan of the former German international.
With Brandt’s deal expiring in the summer, he can also negotiate with other clubs over a potential free transfer. Newcastle, Aston Villa and Tottenham are said to be interested in him.
At the weekend, the midfielder provided two assists in die Schwarzgelben’s 2-0 win over Mainz. The German was not set to start, but a minor injury to Serhou Guirassy meant Brandt was drafted into the starting 11 late on and repaid the faith shown in him.
