Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus appears to insult boss in online video

A video posted online presumably featuring Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus may end up leading to consequences for the BMG professional. A ten-second-clip that appears to have been filmed at the Ballermann in Mallorca captures someone resembling Neuhaus poking fun at Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus.

Whether or not Neuhaus is actually the figure in the video hasn’t been verified. Someone off-frame calls Virkus “the worst manager in the world.” The camera then pans to someone enjoying a holiday in incognito dress – as footballers often do – explaining that Virkus stupidly agreed to pay Neuhaus a €4m annual salary. The person making this statement certainly looks like Neuhaus.

Gladbach have not yet responded to a Kicker inquiry requesting a comment on the situation beyond stating that they are aware of the video and are investigating. Given that the figure in the video (if it is Neuhaus at all) appears to be poking fun at himself, there might be no real consequences for the player after all. Naturally, it doesn’t help Neuhaus’ prospects of remaining.

Neuhaus does still enjoy some status with his long-time club, but has been heavily linked with a move away from the Niederrheiner this summer. The 28-year-old’s salary actually counts as a primary reason why the foals are looking to offload him.
