Borussia Dortmund are set to benefit from Alexander Isak’s impending move from Newcastle United to Liverpool, due to FIFA training compensation rules.
The rules state that a club that helped train a player between the ages of 12 and 21 will receive compensation from a future transfer.
Via transfermarkt, because of the €145m fee for the Swedish striker, Dortmund will receive €1.45m due to the two seasons he spent at the Signal Iduna Park between 2017 and 2019.
During Isak’s spell in the Bundesliga, he played 13 times for the Dortmund first team, scoring once and assisting once. The Swede was a lot more prolific for the second team, scoring five and assisting twice in 12 Regionalliga West games.
Isak was sold to Real Sociedad in 2019 for €15m.
Obviously, this money won’t impact any potential transfer business for Dortmund. However, the money could be used elsewhere, for example, for a new kitchen.
