According to a report from Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund are set to tie Alexander Meyer down to a new contract, which will run until 2027 with an option for another year.
The 34-year-old is yet to feature for die Schwarzgelben this season, but he’s been an important understudy to Gregor Kobel, playing 25 games across all competitions since his arrival.
Meyer has proved himself an influential figure within the dressing room, and is favoured among the club’s management. Joining from Jahn Regensburg in 2022, Dortmund’s No. 2 has accepted his role as a back up to Kobel without any complaints.
Per Sport Bild, Meyer’s contract will be extended in the coming weeks.
Speaking on his contract extension in 2024, Meyer said: “I feel very comfortable in Dortmund, feel great appreciation for those responsible, the coaching staff, my teammates, the employees and our fans. For me, it is still not a matter of course to be allowed to wear the BVB jersey. That’s why I’m happy every day to be a part of this club.”
