Borussia Dortmund were without Nico Schlotterbeck for their Matchday 9 Bundesliga win over Augsburg after feeling unwell with a bout of flu, but die Schwarzgelben remain confident that he can play in their UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Bild report that Schlotterbeck trained individually on Monday, but will definitely travel to England with his teammates. Niko Kovač is confident that Schlotterbeck will partake and complete the final training session on Tuesday, and will be well enough to face-off against Erling Haaland.
Further good news for Borussia Dortmund
After missing Dortmund’s 1-0 win against Augsburg, Niklas Süle is also expected to travel to England after recovering from a toe injury. In the duo’s absence, Ramy Bensebaini and Chelsea loanee Aarón Anselmino played alongside Waldemar Anton as BVB set a new club record.
After nine Bundesliga games, Dortmund have kept six clean sheets – a record for this stage of the season.
