BILD report that Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham (19) has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund.
Sky Germany also confirm the report, adding that the transfer fee is expected to be around €30m. This comes after Dortmund bosses and head coach Niko Kovac flew to Sunderland to convince the player, and more recently there was a meeting between BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl and Bellingham in Ibiza.
Eintracht Frankfurt – who at one point looked to be front-runners to sign Bellingham – have been informed of the decision, while RB Leipzig also showed slight interest but never appeared to be serious contenders to sign the 19-year-old.
Where the reporting differs is that BILD suggest that Borussia Dortmund don’t want to pay anymore than a fixed fee of €25m, but to coincide with Sky Germany’s reporting, that means that the Bundesliga side could pay €5m in bonuses to take the fee to €30m.
Talks between Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland are now ongoing but it’s a deal where an agreement may be reached imminently.
